Panchariya Brothers Productions has announced that acclaimed filmmaker Drew Casson, best known for directing episodes of the BBC's hit World War II drama World on Fire, has joined the upcoming feature film The Rebooted to oversee and direct several of the film's ambitious visual effects sequences.

Casson, whose career began with a passion for visual effects before moving into directing, has become one of Britain's most exciting genre filmmakers. After teaching himself VFX from the age of 12, he made history with his debut feature Hungerford, becoming the youngest director to premiere a feature film at the BFI. He later directed The Darkest Dawnand worked on Netflix's The Last Bus before directing episodes of the acclaimed BBC drama World on Fire.

His appointment marks another significant addition to the creative team behind The Rebooted, the satirical sci-fi feature from writer-director Matthew Rowney. The film follows five contestants trapped inside an AI-generated cinematic universe, where they must rewrite the story before the franchise itself erases them.

Drawing on his unique background in both directing and high-end visual effects, Casson will lead the production's most technically demanding sequences, blending practical filmmaking with cutting-edge digital artistry. His experience delivering cinematic spectacle on independent productions, alongside large-scale television dramas, makes him a natural fit for The Rebooted's ambitious vision.

Director Matthew Rowney said:

"Drew has an incredible eye for cinematic storytelling, but what makes him truly unique is that he understands visual effects from the ground up. He knows how to design sequences that aren't just visually spectacular, but emotionally engaging. Bringing someone with his experience onto The Rebooted is a huge step forward for the film, and I can't wait for audiences to see what we're creating together."

For Casson, the project represents another opportunity to push the boundaries of independent filmmaking, helping deliver blockbuster-scale visuals while supporting the film's distinctive satirical tone.

The Rebooted continues to assemble an impressive roster of talent, with a cast featuring Ian Beattie, Andrew Lee Potts, Roxanne McKee, Stephanie Waring, Amelia Flanagan, Martins Imhangbe, Billy Downes and Wilson James. Recent announcements have also revealed voice performances from Harry Potter actress Shefali Chowdhury and Marvel's Spidey and His Amazing Friends voice actor Nicholas Roye.

Currently in post-production, The Rebooted is preparing for its festival run ahead of release, with Casson's involvement reinforcing the production's commitment to delivering premium visual storytelling on an independent scale.
